It’s your turn to host the holiday party and you are doing your best to prepare. Your to-do list includes a long page of rooms to clean and decorations to put up. Don’t stress, here are 5 ways to make your mantel stand out!
Whether you create your own or find one at the store, a holiday countdown can be a great addition to your mantel. Shop at your local craft and paper stores for clothes pins, small bags or envelopes to fill with goodies. An advent calendar is a fun activity to get children in the holiday spirit.
Ornaments can exist in more places than on a tree. Spruce up your fireplace with vases and bowls you have laying around. If you don’t have any, wait for a great sale to get some awesome décor for cheap.
White Winter Wonderland
Add a touch of winter to make your red hot fireplace stand out. Create D-I-Y snowmen out of Styrofoam balls or display your white knick knacks to add character. Include candles, picture frames, vases, painted wine bottles, figurines, cotton balls as fake snow, etc. Find some cheap block letters that spell out “Peace”, “Jolly”, “Noel” or other holiday phrases and paint them white as a fun addition to your mantel.
Use clear glassware to display holiday items on your mantel, using different shapes and sizes to add a playful effect. Fill them with small ornaments, candles, pine cones, etc.
Cozy up your fireplace with some traditional striped winter candy: candy canes, peppermints or ribbon candy. Use clear jars to fill the room with holiday cheer. Pile up the fake snow and include other festive trinkets.
